Journaling has become part of my daily routine and is a way I can talk to God. It all started when I was 10 years old. We went to Sabbath school like no other day. I remember our teacher handing us all a notebook and she had the whole table filled with decorations, glitter, construction paper, and stickers. She said, “I am giving you all a notebook and in it, I want you all to write whatever you feel like writing. You can write about how you feel and even talk to God.”
From 2010 to 2020
Writing how I feel never really occurred to me, and I never had the idea to write a journal for God. It was like writing to a friend and awaiting their reply. Well, about a decade later, it still feels like that. After I finished the notebook our teacher gave us, I got another one. Writing to God started to become a habit. Needless to say, I am happy I am able to tell God how I feel no matter the circumstances and reread my entries.
Rereading Old Entries
I like to look back every now and then and read my old entries. I see how much God has done in my life and I see the many blessings he has given me. I’m going, to be honest. I have had rough days and I’ve had my share of insecurities, but I am reminded time and time again that we are all on this earth together. We all have struggles and tribulations and they may be different, but God is always there for us.
“Together”- A Song by For King and Country featuring Tori Kelly and Kirk Franklin
My favorite band-For King and Country- recently released a new song with Tori Kelly and Kirk Franklin, titled, “Together.” This song speaks truth. One of the lyrics says, “If we fall, we will fall together… and when we rise, we will rise together.” Throughout this pandemic, we are going through this together.
God uses so many people in so many ways and music is one of them. In addition to recently releasing the song, “Together,” For King and Country shared via Instagram a compilation in 15 languages of different people across the world singing this song. Go and give it a listen-this song couldn’t have come at a better time. So much happens in the world, and there is always something to look back at.
Sometime in the Future…
Like I said before- I like to read old entries at times and see how far I have come. I’d like to think that sometime in the future, I can read the words on my journal entries from the year 2020 and realize how far we have come.
p.s. if you haven’t already, go ahead and take a listen to, “Together.”
