How God can use you even when you think he can’t

I’m shy. When I don’t know people I have a hard time initiating conversation lol. There were many instances where being shy didn’t help me. For example, growing up, I loved school, but sometimes I wouldn’t raise my hand because I was afraid to even speak in class. Another example of where my shyness would intervene would be at church. When it was time for all the classes to do a special program of the trimester I would freeze when I would have to say my verse or even sing in front of the congregation. All in all, I am very shy. But you know what? God needs people like you and me to do what he has called us to do.

It took time for me to break out of my shell a little bit. However, I was able to confront my shyness better than before. For instance, I was able to be a primary school teacher for church, have the opportunity to give a sermon and even do children stories growimg up at church. I’m not saying that I am bold and can initiate contact whenever I want. In fact, I’m still shy. However, over the years I have learned to trust God and let me be used by him. Do you know who else was shy? Moses.

God called Moses to tell Pharoah to let his people go. However, Moses was very shy. He told God he didn’t know how to speak, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue” (Exodus 4:10). Moses gave God excuses as to why he felt he couldn’t be used to lead his people out of Egypt-his speech. However, God knew him more than Moses knew himself. God responded, “ Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?” (Exodus 4: 11). God knows you.

Quite often I still feel like I can’t do things because of being too shy or too quiet. I wish I could be better sometimes, but the truth is God can still use me. God gave each of us different talents. For some people, it’s the ability to preach and teach the word. For others, God gave them the ability to sing and testify. God was able to use Moses-a man who couldn’t even talk- to let his people go. My dear friend reading this, he can use you too.
